Un
sapo negro
‒¿Qué tienes en el cajón, profe? ‒me ha preguntado hoy mi
alumna Andrea, al acabar la clase, mientras lo cerraba con llave.
En el cajón guardo el portátil y la tableta, con los que
doy clase.
‒Una lámpara maravillosa, Andrea –le he respondido–. Si la
frotas, sale un sapo negro y le puedes pedir tres deseos. Y además se quedará limpia.
‒¿No era un genio, profe? ‒ha preguntado Ana, la amiga de
Andrea.
‒No hay presupuesto para genios en esta clase. Te conformas
con un sapo. Tú ¿qué deseos le pedirías, Ana?
Ana se ha mirado las uñas, que hoy llevaba pintadas de
amarillo y azul eléctrico. Podrían perfectamente ser venenosas.
‒Un novio que le haga caso ‒ha comentado Andrea, con mala
intención.
‒Sí, las ganas…
A eso ha seguido un chorro de improperios que han
intercambiado. Aparentemente, muy enfadadas. Solo aparentemente. Son buenas amigas.
Ya en el pasillo, saliendo en fila hacia la puerta, se me
ha acercado Víctor.
‒Profe ‒me ha dicho‒, yo le pediría más deseos. Y más. Y así
sucesivamente.
A black toad
‒What are you keeping
in that drawer, prof? ‒ my student Andrea has asked, at the end of the lesson,
while I was locking it.
I keep the school
laptop and tablet I use for my lessons.
‒A wonderful lamp,
Andrea –I said‒. If you rub it, a
black toad will come out and grant you three wishes. And it will get clean.
‒I thought it was a
genie, prof –said Andrea’s friend, Ana.
‒No budget for a genie in this classroom. You
will have to do with a toad. Would you
have any special wishes Ana?
Ana has looked at her
nails. Today they were painted yellow and electric blue. They could perfectly
be poisonous.
‒A boyfriend who
listens to you ‒has commented Andrea with in a mean spirited way.
‒You bet…
At that moment, there
has been a volley of foul language between the two of them. They were
apparently mad at each other. Apparently. They are good friends.
On the corridor,
getting out in line in the way to the door, Víctor has come near.
‒Prof ‒he has told me‒,
I would just ask the toad for more wishes. And so on, and on, and on.
