ラッキー！- ¡Qué suerte! - How lucky

昨晩、どうやらそのへんのゴロツキ連中が、僕の車のナンバープレートで遊んでいたらしい。プレートは曲げられ、ナンバーの回りに白いペンキが飛び散るまで蹴られていた。

新しいプレートが必要だったので、ボロボロのプレートを整備工場に持って行った。

整備工はプレートを見て、こう言った。

「被害にあったのはナンバープレートだけ？それはラッキーだったね。週末のあとは、もっとひどいことをされるケースが多いから」

寛容で、周りを尊重し、平和で静かで親切な人々の国に住めて本当にラッキーだったと思う。

Parece que esta pasada noche algunos gamberros se han estado divirtiendo con la matrícula de mi coche. La han doblado y pateado hasta hacer saltar la pintura blanca alrededor de los números.

Como tenía que poner una nueva, he llevado el coche al mecánico.

─¿Sólo la matrícula? Has tenido suerte ─me ha dicho ─. Después del fin de semana… Hacen cosas mucho peores a los coches que destrozar una matrícula.

Es una suerte vivir en un país de gente tolerante, respetuosa, pacífica, tranquila y hospitalaria.

How lucky!

Last night some vandals were having fun with my car’s number plate. They bent it and kicked it until the white paint coat around the numbers fell off.

I had to have it replaced so I went to the mechanic´s.

─Just the plate number? How lucky ─he has told me ─. After the weekend… They do worse things to cars than just ruining a number plate.

I am lucky to live in a country with so tolerant, respectful, peaceful, calm and hospitable people.
