El abuelo Cebolleta
A veces me
Cebolleta».
Grandpa
Cebolleta (Scallion)
Sometimes this blog seems to me grandpa Cebolleta’s
blog.
“La Familia Cebolleta” (Scallion Family) was a comic
that originated in the middle of the 50s. It is about a family with a peculiar
character, an old man, who has incorporated to colloquial Spanish for his
inexhaustible supply of anecdotes (old times stories) from his past life. That
is why, when someone gets annoying telling old times stories, people say: “You
are like el abuelo Cebolleta”.
Translation of the comic to English:
1. Do
you want me to tell you something?
2. No
answer?
3. Well,
look, once upon a time…
4. And
then my sepoys and me…
5. However,
when the submarine arrived…
6. Later,
I decided to…
7. …then
the Indians came…
8. …but
the plane began to fly…
9. …the
worst was when the Chinese ran away to…
10. …later,
the caporal arrived and said…
11. ...then,
my 600 men and I launched an attack and blah blah blah…
12. …the
enemy waved the white flag and..
13. …only
three men arrived at the shore…
14. …I
escaped jumping on my green horse and…
15. Enough!
16. What´s
the matter?
17. Do
you mean you are not interested in what I am telling you?
18. No!
19.
Well… Why didn´t you tell me before, son?
