批判役のメディア - Periodismo crítico - Watchdog Journalism

数年前、僕は「LaVanguardia」

（まだ複数の視点でいい記事が掲載されていた時代）や「El País」（まだ批判的役割を果たしていた時代）といった新聞を読むのが好きだった。今の新聞は、高くて、あまりにも分厚くて、中身に乏しい印象を受ける。唯一の思想だけを受け入れ、批判をにぎりつぶす社会は、死んだも同然だ。

今朝、できたてのパンを買いに外に出た時（ここでは多くの人々がそうする）、El Paísを飼おうと思った。そして、スペインのジャーナリズムの中で、まだ面白いと思う数少ないページに再会した。El Rotoの風刺画だ。

El Roto は、アンドレス・ロバゴ・ガルシアのペンネーム。彼はスペインでは名の知れた風刺画家で、El Paísにイラストを連載している。その功績が認められ、２０１２年にはPremio Nacional（国が各分野の功労者に授与する賞）のイラスト部門を受賞。彼の作品には、批判的視点からの現代社会の日常が描かれている。イラスト自体はそれほどすごいとは思わないのだが、とにかく文章が面白い。賢明で、公正な、連帯意識のある社会を作ることができないでいる国や国民に対して、実に痛烈なメッセージを浴びせているのだが、イラストはそうしたメッセージを送るための言い訳にすぎないのではないかとさえ感じさせられる。

1.   ゴミの中には、日々食べ物が増えている。そして、食べ物の中にもゴミが増えている。

2.   彼と私は、住居の値段を避妊手段に使っています。

3.   イエス・キリストの台詞の引用とパロディ: “子供たちを、わたしのもとに来させなさい。ただ、神父のところに来させてはなりません”.

4.   わたしたちが存在するのは、テレビに映る時だけです。

5.   定年の年齢を７０歳に延長しましょう。でも、心配しないでください。４０歳からは、雇用しませんので。

6.   われわれはあなた方を脅威から守ってあげます。そして、その脅威であなた方を怖がらせます。

7.   地面に線をひいて、独立を宣言しました。それ以来ずっと、この線に従属しています。

8.   儲からない病気だと診断されました。もう助かる道はありません。

9.   大学では、考えることを教わります。仕事では、考えると何が起こるかを教わります。

10.清掃の仕事をしている女性: “わたしから搾取する会社の株を買わないと、仕事が続けられないらしいわ”.

11.現地語は、その言葉を話さない人たちを特定するのに役立つ。

12.年金を確保するためには、定年と死亡の日を一致させなければなりません。

13.移民は出て行け！もちろん、搾取期間が終わってから。

14.パーティで高価な服を来ている２人: “あなたがたの子供たちは勉強しなくてもかまいません。わたしたちの子供たちが勉強しますから”

15.宣伝広告: “１、２、３世代が払う住居”.

Periodismo crítico

Hace años me gustaba leer periódicos españoles como La Vanguardia (cuando era un periódico bien escrito con puntos de vista diversos) o El País (cuando tenía sentido crítico). Ahora mi impresión sobre nuestros periódicos es que son demasiado caros, demasiado gruesos y muy poco independientes. Una sociedad de pensamiento único que ahoga la crítica es una sociedad muerta.

Hoy he salido a comprar una barra de pan recién hecho (es algo que solemos hacer aquí), me ha dado por comprar El País y me he reencontrado con una de esas pocas cosas que aún me parecen interesantes dentro del periodismo español: el humor gráfico de El Roto.

El Roto es el pseudónimo de Andrés Rábago García, un conocido humorista gráfico español que publica diariamente su viñeta en El País. Ganó en el 2012 el Premio Nacional de Ilustración por sus viñetas, que reflejan de manera muy crítica la actualidad día a día. A veces sus dibujos no me llaman mucho la atención, pero las frases que los acompañan sí. Parece que los dibujos sean la excusa para poder publicar frases auténticamente demoledoras sobre nuestra incapacidad para crear una sociedad mínimamente sensata, justa y solidaria.

Los dibujos de El Roto se pueden disfrutar también en este link , pero me gustaría ofrecer aquí una pequeña muestra de estas frases que me llaman la atención:

1. Cada día hay más comida en la basura. Y más basura en la comida.
2. Mi novio y yo utilizamos el precio de la vivienda como anticonceptivo
3. Citando y cambiando la frase de Jesucristo: “Dejad que los niños se acerquen a mí, pero no a los curas”.
4. Solo existimos cuando nos televisan.
5. Ampliaremos la edad de jubilación a los setenta, pero no os preocupéis. A partir de los cuarenta no os contrataremos.
6. ¡Nosotros os defenderemos de las amenazas con las que os asustamos!
7. Tracé una raya en el suelo y me declaré independiente. Desde entonces vivo pendiente de esa raya.
8. Me han diagnosticado una enfermedad no rentable. No tengo salvación.
9. En la universidad te enseñan a pensar, y en el trabajo lo que te puede pasar si lo haces.
10. Una señora de la limpieza: “Para seguir trabajando me exigen que compre acciones de la empresa que me explota”.
11. El idioma local sirve para identificar a los que no lo hablan.
12. Para garantizar el futuro de las pensiones hay que hacerlas coincidir con la fecha de fallecimiento,
13. ¡Fuera inmigrantes! Pero tras un periodo de explotación como es lógico.
14. Una pareja vestida con trajes caros en una fiesta: “No hace falta que vuestros hijos estudien. Ya lo hacen los nuestros”.
15. Un cartel publicitario: “Viviendas de una, dos y tres vidas dedicadas a pagarlas”.

Watchdog journalism

Years ago I was fond of reading Spanish newspapers such as La Vanguardia (when it was well written and contained different points of view) or El País (when it had a critical attitude). Now, if you ask me about our newspapers, I would say they are too expensive, too thick and with very little independence. A society that only admits a single line of thought and tries to choke all critical thinking is a dead society.

Today I have gone out to buy a fresh baguette, a long small loaf of bread, (something most people do here every day) and I have felt like buying El País. I have met up again with one of those few things that I still find interesting in Spanish journalism: El Roto’ s cartoon.

El Roto stands for Andrés Rábago García, a well-knows Spanish cartoonist whose drawings are every day in El País. He was awarded in 2012 with the National Prize for Illustration. His drawings reflect the day-to-day of Spanish news with a critical attitude. It is true that sometimes his drawings do not impress me so much, but the words going with them do.  It seems as if the drawings could be the excuse to be able to publish really devastating sentences about our ineptitude to create a society with just acceptable standards of common sense, fairness and solidarity.

El Roto’s drawings can be also enjoyed here, but I would like to share with you a small sample of those sentences that caught my eye:

1. Every day there is more and more food in the garbage, and more and more garbage in food.
2. My boyfriend and I use house prices as a birth control method.
3. Quoting and changing Jesus Christ sentence: ‘Let the children come to me, but not to priests’.
4. We only exist when we are broadcast on TV.
5. We are going to postpone retirement age to 70, but do not worry. From the time you are 40, we are not going to hire you.
6. We will defend you from the threats we scare you with!
7. I drew a line on the dirt and declared myself independent. From that moment I don´t take my eyes from the line.
8. I have been diagnosed an economically unprofitable illness. I have got no chance to survive.
9. They teach you how to think at the university and at work they teach you what can happen to you if you do it.
10. A cleaning lady: ‘To keep my job, they require from me that I buy shares of the firm that is exploiting me’.
11.  The local language is useful to identify those who can´t speak it.
12.  In order to guarantee the future of pensions, we must synchronise them with people’s deaths
13. Out with immigrants! But obviously only after a period of exploitation.
14.  A dressed up couple at a party: ‘It is not necessary that your children study. Ours do’.
15.  An advert: ‘Homes to be paid back in one, two or three life times’.
